so i bought a big bag of ‘baked’ dill chips the other day and they definitely hit the spot. but they still seemed to have a hint of that same greasy potato chip quality. somehow i couldn’t help but think that there must be a cleanse-friendly, nutritious alternative with the same crunch & great flavour… and there is. <enter baked kale chips>
baked kale chips seem to be all the rage these days… i’ve seen different varieties of recipes in the foodie blogosphere over the past few weeks, but there seems to be a common theme: this is a really simple nutritious snack to make at home. so i tried out fellow blogger tasteinspired’s recipe…
prep the kale:
- preheat oven to 350F
- 1 bunch of kale (rinse well, remove stems & tear into bite-size pieces)
(tip: ensure that kale is thoroughly dry. either use a salad spinner, colander or pat gently w/ tea towels to remove any excess moisture.)

- toss kale pieces in large prep bowl w/ extra-virgin olive oil (evoo)
- ensure leaves are coated well, but not drenched
bake the kale:
- place kale pieces on 2 baking sheets lined w/ cooking parchment paper
- bake for 10-12min at 350F, until kale pieces are crunchy & bright green
(tip: do not brown/burn kale pieces. kale turns bitter if overcooked.)

food styling:
- season w/ sea salt & ground black peppercorns to taste

Oh! I’ve been meaning to try kale chips! I’ll have to remember this recipe. Thanks :)
yes, they are worth a try… great snack for movie night or gameday as well! i made a batch to munch on during today’s big heritage classic hockey game. curious to see if reheated day-old baked kale chips are still just as good…
looks delicious!I always forget about kale.
thanks! who knew nutritious, low-calorie snacks could be so yummy? :)
